This process gives them the most accurate dimensions and the best possible finish. Fidanza uses the very latest techniques to ensure that Fidanza flywheels are innovative and functional. Fidanza friction surface is laser cut with the fastener holes and chamfers CNC machined. The pattern for the fasteners is a computer design that keeps the friction surface from warping. Fidanza doesn't just use more fasteners because they can, Fidanza uses them because they are needed.

Aluminum flywheels have been used for many years for increasing performance. From the earliest days of racing and street build-ups, the world's best engine builders have been installing aluminum flywheels to give their engines the needed edge. Not only will you see a dramatic increase in usable horsepower, but engine life can also be extended since there will be less stress on the crankshaft.

To achieve the greatest increase in performance an aluminum flywheel must lower the moment of inertia characteristics of the engine. Put in simpler terms, we must reduce the amount of horsepower needed to turn the flywheel so that horsepower can be used to turn the wheels. Making the flywheel lighter is not as simple as it sounds. Anyone can take the factory design and then just produce that from aluminum. At Fidanza Flywheels we take the extra effort to eliminate the weight in areas that make sense for performance.

Fidanza does not sacrifice durability. Fidanza will not sell a flywheel that will not hold up to the roughest of drivers and or engines. This is where Fidanza Flywheels have the edge. Fidanza flywheels give the best increase in performance but they are also the most durable. What a concept! Anyone can claim to make a product that far exceeds industry standards but Fidanza chooses to put their money where their mouth is. From the very best materials to ground breaking new designs, Fidanza Flywheels are the finest aluminum flywheels on the market.

Fidanza Flywheels are made using the highest quality and most modern materials available. The flywheel itself is made from either 6061 T6 or 2024 T3 aluminum depending on the model. Both of these materials are tempered aluminum which are very, very strong yet very lightweight. The friction surface is very special. Fidanza uses a 1050 high carbon, alloy steel. This alloy is perfect for this use. It is incredibly durable allowing the use of just about any clutch disc material available from organic to Kevlar and even sintered iron. Fidanza attachs the friction surface using aerospace nuts and bolts or 304 stainless steel rivets depending on the application. These are some of the best fasteners money can buy. Fidanza chose them because of their incredible shear strength and resistance to corrosion. All Fidanza ring gears are heat treated for durability. They are heated, pressed on and then secured using grade 10 fasteners. You will not find better materials but keep reading because Fidanza machining and design process will knock your socks off.

Most companies design their flywheels so that they can be machined quickly and with the least amount of effort. Fidanza Flywheel designs their flywheels to produce the best increase in performance and the most durability. Sometimes that means sacrificing a little profit on their end but Fidanza thinks you will agree, it's well worth it.

Our aluminum flywheels are made from the highest quality 6061 T6 aluminum. The material is fantastic for strength, heat dissipation and of course reduction in weight. The friction surface we use is an icredibly strong 1045 steel. The flywheel friction plates are milled to meet our high specifications. A Fidanza aluminum flywheel can mate with any type of clutch material, including organic, kevlar, ceramic, metallic and sintered iron. We attach the replaceable friction surface with military grade aerospace fasteners. With these replaceable friction plates there is no need to replace the entire flywheel when the clutch or flywheel is at the end of it's life, saving time and money. The ring gears we use are also made from 1050 steel and are heat treated for durability. The flywheel ring gears are heated then pressed on and secured with grade 8 button screws. We were the first to utilize a stepped dowel system in most of our flywheel applications. This doweling method ensures that once the pressure plate is installed the dowels cannot be removed because they become locked into place. No chromemoly can compete with the awesome serviceablity, strength and superior design of Fidanza's aluminum flywheels. If there was a better material out there, we would be using it.
